Brent grew up in Burley-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire. His love of working wood developed early on. He was educated locally and then studied Specialist Woodworking at Hartlepool College of Technology gaining Distinctions in all subjects. He completed his apprenticeship with Treske Ltd at Thirsk, developing his cabinet making skills to the high standards he displays today.

In 1985, with the help of funding from The Prince's Youth Business Trust, he established his first workshop in Bingley.

After spending 10 years there creating custom-made furniture and building himself a national reputation for quality and craftsmanship, he travelled over the moor from Airedale to his home dale of Wharfedale to continue a fine tradition in wood at his present workshop in Ilkley. In 2010 he celebrated his 25th year of business, click on the picture to read more.

Choosing the right materials is all-important in making beautiful furniture that is going to be around long after we are gone. Brent firmly believes that time spent selecting the wood is as important as making the piece itself, and patience and a skilful eye are the 'foundation upon which tomorrow's antiques are crafted'.

The nature of our business is to offer a special service to customers as individuals. Each piece of furniture is custom designed and made. Consequently prices vary depending on the design chosen and timber, fixings and finish selected. Brent will gladly discuss your requirements with you and provide a quotation free of charge.

How to find me

From Skipton

Drive in on the A65, as if you were going into Ilkley centre. Look out for 'Andrew Green's' garage on the left corner directly opposite 'Glovers' garage on your right.
Turn immediately left into Middleton Road after Andrew Green's. Approximately 20 yards further down Middleton Road, after the first two houses, there is a narrow passage way in between the houses on the left. This is the access road to the workshop. Park on the street.

From Leeds

Drive through Ilkley town centre on the A65 and out towards Skipton. Look out for 'Andrew Green's' garage on the right and 'Glovers' garage on your left. These will be approximately 1/2 a mile from the traffic light in the centre of town. Turn immediately right into Middleton Road as you see 'Andrew Green's' garage. Approximately 20 yards further down Middleton Road, after the first two houses, there is a narrow passage way in between the houses on the left. This is the access road to the workshop. Park on the street.

Inside the Workshop

All of the machinery that I use to produce my furniture is at hand in my workshop on Middleton Road. I'm often a bit pushed for space, hence I tend to stack components on the machines and spare worktops. For the wood types, they're all there in the shelving, but I don't think you can see in this small picture. Lots of furniture slowly comes to life in my workshop – this is where I'm at my happiest.
